Nowadays, the concept of team building encompasses a wide variety of fun activities that allow a company’s employees to get to know each other better in situations outside of the everyday office environment: contests, sports, escape rooms, trust building games, etc…

But they’re not the only ones. A new type of team building activity has emerged in recent years which is more closely aligned with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives. It consists of getting employees involved with their surroundings and hosting fun and meaningful experiences that can have a positive impact on the environment.

Sand clean-ups, fundraising events, food drives or reforestation projects are just a few examples. Green and sustainable experiences with numerous benefits for employees, for companies and for the planet.

Reforestation of trees: fun and sustainable team building activities

As we’ve seen, there are many activities that promote teamwork and care for the planet. Planting autochthonous trees is one of them.

As we explained in the article, “Discover the five superpowers of trees”(link), forests are one of our most precious natural resources because of the multiple benefits they provide.  However, human actions and natural events such as forest fires can prevent new trees from sprouting and growing.

The good news is that reforestation projects help us transform burned land into forests that are full of life. But in order to reap the benefits of our efforts in this regard, it is essential for planting activities to be controlled, i.e., they must be done in the right place at the right time.  This is the only way to increase carbon sinks, improve the water cycle and protect the soil.

It is just as important to know what to do as what not to do. In order to increase the planet’s green area and to involve companies in caring for the environment, at Bosquia we organize these types of team building activities for all kinds of organizations large and small.

Not only does this bring employees closer together by involving them in an activity that will have a very positive impact on society, but it also allows them to reduce their carbon footprint.

Benefits of reforestation as a team building activity

In Spain alone, we have planted more than 350,000 trees since 2017. We also do this kind of work in other countries such as France, Morocco or Portugal, where we have x hectares of forest land.

We always plant indigenous species using the appropriate procedures to ensure the survival of the trees we plant. In addition, we make a commitment to regularly inspect the trees we’ve planted and replace the ones that do not survive within the first two years, as long as they are not lost due to a fire or a natural disaster.

Our work is possible thanks to you, to the volunteers and the companies that trust us to make their environmental commitment a reality, and at the same time proving that teamwork and protecting the environment can be fun.

How reforestation helps to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)

What many companies do not know is that with these team building and reforestation activities they are also contributing to the achievement of the following sustainable development goals:

Clean water and sanitation

Reforestation promotes the recovery of forest soil, which is responsible for filtering water.

Climate action

Reforestation helps to restore forests and combat climate change (heat waves, storms, floods and diseases), the greatest threat to our health.

Life of terrestrial ecosystems

Reforestation helps to preserve biological diversity. Forests and trees provide refuge to a large number of living creatures and are home to an estimated 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.
